Fat Knight Theatre is proud to present ChipandGus as part of the 20th annual New York International Fringe Festival.
ChipandGus is a play unlike any other; a fast and furious comedy with balls! Two actors and one ping pong table create 90 minutes of smart, funny, moving action with guaranteed 100% more ping pong than Fringe audiences may ever see!
Chip and Gus, two oddball acquaintances, meet once a month over a ping pong table, in the back room of a rundown bar in a nondescript college town. But this night is different. This night there is something else in the room. To the real time back and forth patter of paddles and laughts, buried secrets get uncovered, and the two realize that their lives are more etwined than they ever imagined.
ChipandGus is co-created and performed by John Ahlin, a veteran of many Broadway shows including Journey's End, Waiting for Godot and The Lieutenant of Inishmore and Christopher Patrick Mullen, who brings a wealth of experience in regional theatres as well as the West Side Story National Tour and long relationships with People's Light, Pennsylvania Shakespeare and the Arden Theatre Company.
"And yes, we actually play ping pong" says Mullen, 'It;s an amazing experience." Ahlin adds, "when we started submitting the play to theaters, we squeezed the ping pong table into my Hyundai, and we drove around showing it to people, like old-fashioned vacuum cleaner salesmen."
The play has already delighted audiences at Baltimore's Center Stage where it appeared in their 3rd Spaces program, being performed in an actual bar, as well as at Centenary Stage's Black Box Festival, the Parkside Lounge, and at Proctors Theater in Schenectady, New York.
ChipandGus will be performed at Fringe Venue #8, the WOW care Theatre, 59-61 Est 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave.
