On Wednesday, September 11h, NewFilmmakers presents its annual 911 Screening Series as well as a Short Film Program and the feature AMERICAN VETERANS: DISCARDED AND FORGOTTEN.

6:00 PM Special Program Annual 9/11 Screening

ALEX QUADE CHINOOK DOWN (2013, 10 minutes)
To really live, you must almost die! CHINOOK DOWN is the real story behind the WikiLeaks headline of a Chinook helicopter shootdown by surface-to-air-missile in Afghanistan, killing all onboard. Reporter Alex Quade was supposed to be on that helicopter.

Matt Whitman WTC (2013, 13 minutes)
This piece consists of motion picture film portraits of One World Trade Center, taken from numerous locations ranging from areas in Lower Manhattan to the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn. These portraits have been taken at various times of day as well as in varying weather conditions. The piece, originating from 7 rolls of silent Super 8mm color film, has been digitized for preservation and screening.

Ben Garchar THE ASCENT (2013, 13 minutes)
Milo, though successful, is struggling to find purpose and interpersonal connection.Through a chance encounter with a woman, and reoccurring visions of One World Trade Center rising, he learns what it means to rebuild oneself and be complete.

John has made an odd discovery. The North Woods outside the city contain clean streams, waterfalls, and...a fence. A fence that is only about waist-high; clearly nothing to keep people out. In all his years, he never knew this place existed.

Gary Null PhD explores the truth about Gulf War Syndrome, a horrific condition affecting thousands of soldiers and their families and the disturbing secrets that the government is hiding from the public. You'll hear the truth from doctors, scientists, military analysts and the veterans who are still suffering from the effects of their tours of duty while the government denies any accountability for this illness.
