Barry and Fran Weissler, producers of the record-breaking Broadway smash CHICAGO, are pleased to announce a first in theatrical history, as they launch the newest chapter in Broadway social networking with Facebook Fan Day.
Set for the matinee performance on Sunday, January 30, 2011, CHICAGO's Facebook Fan Day will mark the first time ever that a Broadway show fills its house entirely with Facebook fans - all of whom will be attending for FREE.
"We see that online social networking plays an extremely vital role in building audiences - on Broadway, on the road and throughout the world," said Barry Weissler. "Yesterday, we celebrated our 14th Anniversary on Broadway, and today I'm pleased to announce that our newest endeavor, Facebook Fan Day, is our own unique way of saying a very special ‘thank you' to those wonderful online fans that have continued to champion our show with such incredible passion and enthusiasm over the years. CHICAGO wouldn't be what is today without our fans, and I look forward to seeing the entire performance filled to the rafters with Facebook fans on January 30!"
The Facebook Fan Day promotion launches virally on Monday, November 15, 2010. To participate, any CHICAGO Facebook fan who signs-up and recruits 10 of their friends to "Like" CHICAGO The Musical on the popular social networking site will receive a free ticket.
The promotion will end once every seat for the January 30 matinee performance has been filled (that performance is not available for regular purchase, thus ensuring that every seat in the house will be available to a Facebook fan). The complimentary tickets will be mailed in January.Seating for Facebook Fan Day will be general admission by orchestra section and mezzanine section. Sections will be assigned chronologically - the first people to recruit 10 friends to "Like" CHICAGO will be seated in the orchestra. Once the orchestra is full, remaining fans will be seated in the mezzanine, until the house is full.

Now celebrating 14 glorious years of girls, glitz and glamour on the Great White Way, the record-breaking smash hit musical CHICAGO is the sixth longest-running production in Broadway history, as well as Broadway's longest-running musical revival ... and it still shows no sign of slowing down!
Currently playing at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.), CHICAGO features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, and is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.
Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
Directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, CHICAGO features set design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Ken Billington and sound design by Scott Lehrer.
