CETM and CUTTER PRODUCTIONS, in association with the Midtown International Theater Festival, have announced the New York premiere production of LE PRINCE ET LE PAUVRE (The Prince and the Pauper), book and lyrics by Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal, music and original Montreal production directed by Julien Salvia, New York production directed by Gaëlle Pouliquen, presented in French with supertitles and an encore in English. LE PRINCE ET LE PAUVRE will play three performances only June Havoc Theatre (Abington Theatre Arts Complex, 312 West 36th Street, just West of 8th Avenue). Performances are tonight, July 27 at 6:45pm, Saturday, July 28 at 11:30am, and Sunday, July 29 at 12pm.

A young prince and a lowly pauper boy live in the same kingdom, but are from different worlds. Brought together by chance on the streets of London, the prince conspires to exchange places with the poor kid, for a chance to be free.

Both boys encounter little of what they expected, the pauper falls into the clutches of the malevolent Lord Hertford (the prince’s uncle) and the prince finds freedom chaotic, so he sets out to foil his uncle’s evil plan to dominate the land.

In this merry tale of swamped identities, the boys learn that there are two sides to every situation, and the importance of being true to oneself. By the end of the tale, there are many reasons to celebrate.

The production features costume design by Théâtre de l'Esquisse, and lighting design by Vincent Sauvé. Vanessa Lironi is the stage manager.
