Nominations for the 5th Annual International Awards from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts have been announced.

CAROL tops the list with five nominations for best film, best direction for Todd Haynes, best screenplay for Phyllis Nagy, best lead actress for Cate Blanchett and best supporting actress for Rooney Mara.

The ensemble dramedy THE BIG SHORT follows close behind with four nominations. "Mad Max: Fury Road," "The Martian," "The Revenant" and "Steve Jobs" received three nominations a piece.

Winners will be announced in Los Angeles on Friday, Jan. 29.

About AACTA Awards The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards are a CONTINUUM of the AFI Awards, which have honoured screen excellence in Australia since 1958.
