As another school year ends and summer begins, children who stutter are given no reprieve from their daily experiences of shame and isolation. Summer simply represents a chance to be ridiculed by new kids in new environments....until now. Camp Our Time offers a compassionate and joyful alternative for these children and their families -- It's the first program of its kind: a sleepaway camp, where kids who stutter can feel like part of the crowd, instead of alone within it.
Camp Our Time, which takes place in upstate New York from August 8-15, was recently featured in a full-page article in PARENTGUIDE NEWS MAGAZINE (see reprint on next page.) Our Time has seen a 50% increase in Camp registration since last summer, a reflection of increased awareness for the NY-based non-profit, as more families have had the chance to learn about the extraordinary and pioneering work they do.
Last summer, The Associated Press visited Camp Our Time, and shared its amazing story, worldwide. Watch ASSOCIATED PRESS's Television segment on Camp Our Time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftK2pd3EDnc
