CAMP BROADWAY®, the award-winning theater arts education and audience development company, is now accepting enrollment for 100 Broadway-loving adults ( ages 21+) to perform a musical theater mash-up of Broadway's cult classics with an original number honoring The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Carrie: The Musical. The parade will be televised live on NY1 and WPIX on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 beginning at 7:30 pm.
Â
CAMP BROADWAY, under the direction of Artistic Director Tony Parise (Broadway credits include Me and My Girl and 42nd Street), will make its first-ever appearance in the Village Halloween Parade with a program created especially for adults ages 21 and over. "As a result of Camp Broadway's 17 year history, it has camper alumni all over the country with many residing here in New York City and the metro area." says Melissa Caolo, Managing Director for Camp Broadway. "Combined with theatre-loving parents of the kids who attend Camp Broadway's youth programs, there's an army of musical theatre fans who continually tell us they are eager to participate in Broadway related activities as well as in iconic New York City events such as the Village Halloween Parade. This program resonates with both. Camp Broadway is very excited to bring Broadway and its fans to the Village Halloween Parade."
Â
CAMP BROADWAY has created a special program leading up to the parade performance which includes rehearsals, costume and makeup consultations with Broadway professionals, meet-and-greets with performers from Carrie: The Musical, Broadway giveaways, Camp Broadway merchandise and special discounts to see the latest installment of Forbidden Broadway. Participants will create their own costumes inspired by The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Carrie: The Musical. A prize for Best Costume in each show title will be awarded. Winners will be determined by popular vote online. No performing experience is required to participate.
