On Wednesday, March 31, 2010, Brooklyn Recreation's Afterschool Program and the World Cares Center come together to bring you the Iron Skillet Cook Off Jr., a culinary competition in which members of New York's Bravest will team up with Parks' Afterschool participants to test their skills in the kitchen. The event will take place at New York City College of Technology from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Brooklyn Recreation's Afterschool program has had a culinary component since 1999, which in the past has included cookie, cupcake and pie competitions. The Parks Afterschool Program seeks to enhance communities and enrich the lives of children in the City of New York by providing safe, supportive, and structured environments that support overall health and well-being. World Cares Center's mission is to support safe and effective disaster preparedness, response and resilient recovery within communities. Our focus is grassroots, and supports local community members as resilient first responders. We are a small non-profit group aided by many diverse partners and supporters.
