Brooklyn Public Library Provides Free Assistance for Diversity Visa Lottery 2012

In partnership with the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) will provide assistance to eligible immigrants applying for United States Visas through the Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery Program (DV-2012). All applications must be filed online.

BPL's Learning Centers will provide individuals with free access to computers, the Internet, digital cameras, scanners and assistance with filing lottery applications online. BPL's Learning Centers will provide Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery Program (DV-2012) service at BPL's Learning Centers on Saturdays and Sundays from October 9 to October 31. The Bedford, Coney Island, Eastern Parkway, and Flatbush libraries will be open for assistance from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays. The Central Library's Learning Center will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM.

Bedford Learning Center, 496 Franklin Avenue, 718.623.2134
Service at Bedford Learning Center will not be available on Saturday, Oct 9, but will resume service on Saturday, Oct 16.

In order to ensure that BPL can provide individuals with the service they need, please arrive at Learning Centers no later than 1:30 PM or at Central Library Learning Center before 4:30 PM.

About the Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery Program (DV-2012)
Important Notes:
Applications are only accepted online through www.dvlottery.state.gov.

Applications require a digital photo of the applicant, as well as any spouse and/or children.

The application deadline is November 3, 2010 at 12 PM.

Background:
The Electronic Diversity Visa Program was designed to increase diversity in the US immigrant population by providing nationals of countries that have had low immigration rates an opportunity to apply for a visa.

Applicants for the Electronic Diversity Visa Program participate in a lottery, selected through a computer generated random drawing.

The Program is administered by the Department of State.
