Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is pleased to announce its new Teacher Library Card. With this new library card, elementary school teachers can now borrow materials for their students, making it easier to access children's books and audio resources from the Brooklyn Public Library collection.

The Teachers Library Card was launched in November 2010 to provide teachers and their students with an easy and convenient way to tap into the Library. Brooklyn Public Library has over four million items in over 20 languages. Teachers can now utilize these resources to enrich the classroom experience, (as well as provide students with additional resources that may not be found in the classroom.)

"We are thrilled that this program will allow more students and their teachers to take advantage of the services that we offer at Brooklyn Public Library. Learning is a team effort which requires the collaboration of educators, parents and library staff, and we're glad to be part of the process," says Linda Portera, director of neighborhood libraries.

Brooklyn Public Library has implemented different borrowing rules for the Teacher Card to make using it convenient. Highlights include:

· Borrow up to 99 items
1 21-day loan period for all items
2 Teachers can place up to 50 items on hold
3 No late fees for overdue returns
The new borrowing rules should help teachers make the most of the card and the resources available at the Library.
