On April 2, Target First Saturdaycelebrates the arrival of spring. The evening's highlights include papier-mâché bead-making with Steven and William Ladd; a dance performance and movement workshop with Brooklyn Dance Festival and choreographer Earl Mosley; a tour of the Egyptianand European galleries; film screenings of BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez and Planetary; and musical performances by Falu, Brown Rice Family, and Maya Azucena.
Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturday events attract thousands of visitors to free art and entertainment programs each month. Some Target First Saturday programs have limited space and are ticketed on a first-come, first-served basis. *Denotes a ticketed event.
5 pm Music: Falu returns to the Museum to enchant us with her fusion of Hindustani classical, raga, pop, and jazz.
5:30 pm Pop-Up Curator Talk: Learn about our European galleries from Rich Aste, Curator of European Art.
*6 pm Film: Planetary (Guy Reid, 2015, 52 min.) explores humanity's cosmic origins and invites us to rethink our relationships to each other and the world around us. Followed by a talkback.
6 pm Pop-Up Conservator Talk: Discover ways to protect art and the planet with Lisa Bruno, Carol Lee Shen Chief Conservator, and learn about new, environmentally sustainable art conservation techniques.
*6-7:15 pm Hands-On Art: Create scrolls and papier-mâché beads with artists Steven and William Ladd to contribute to a community mural project in City Point, Brooklyn.
6:30 pm Pop-Up Curator Talk: Edward Bleiberg, Curator of Egyptian, Classical, and Ancient Egyptian Art, takes you on a tour of our Egyptian galleries.
6:30-8:30 pm Pop-Up Gallery Talks: Enjoy ten-minute discussions about art related to nature and agriculture.
7 pm Performance and Workshop: The Brooklyn Dance Festival hosts a night of dance with a performance and workshop by choreographer Earl Mosley.
7 pm Music: High-energy band Brown Rice Family combines reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, Brazilian, Afro-beat, jazz styling, Latin, and funk.
*8 pm Film: BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez (Barbara Attie, Janet Goldwater, and Sabrina Schmidt Gordon, 2015, 91 min.) reflects on the life and impact of the poet, teacher, and activist.
8:30 pm Poetry: Laura Lamb Brown Lavoie and Desiree Bailey perform poetry that celebrates feminine mythologies from the Haitian Revolution to the shores of Rhode Island.
9 pm Dance Break: WNYC's Death, Sex & Money podcast hosts a dance break featuring a listener-powered playlist of "anthems of change" in celebration of spring and transformation.
9 pm Music: Through powerful vocals and equally stirring messages of social activism, Maya Azucena returns to the Museum to put some spring in our step and get our hearts beating for the new season.

Museum admission is free from 5 to 11 pm and includes entrance to galleries and events. Programs are subject to change without notice. For more information, visit www.brooklynmuseum.org. Museum galleries are open until 11 pm. Parking is a flat rate of $5 from 5 to 11 pm.
