The Brooklyn Museum will present BACK WALKING FORWARD, the new 40-minute documentary about traumatic brain injury at 2pm on Sunday, March 18, to mark Brain Injury Awareness Month.
BACK WALKING FORWARD tells the story of a Brooklyn family, whose lives changed without warning when their son Eric sustained a brain injury after a car accident. Brain injury is the major cause of disability today. In the U.S., the numbers keep rising among both military and civilian populations.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Kavery Kaul, BACK WALKING FORWARD takes the audience on the unpredictable road to recovery. Bob Woodruff of ABC News calls it “an amazing and absorbing documentary.”
A lively young man, Eric, will attend the screening with his parents. They have an extraordinary experience to share about their journey to “a new normal.”
Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Sandra Chapman, City Council Member LetiTia James, and the filmmaker will also be there. Representatives from the Brain Injury Association of New York State, the American Public Health Association and the American Physical Therapy Association have been invited to participate in the Q&A after the screening.
