Brooklyn Museum Presents Adult Public Programs in July and August

During July and August the Brooklyn Museum will present an array of public programs for adults including a jazz tribute to hip-hop artist Keith "Guru" Elam, a panel discussion about the life of Andy Warhol featuring artist-socialite Brigid Berlin and filmmaker Vincent Fremont, two curator talks about the exhibition American High Style: Fashioning a National Collection, and a Dr. Sketchy's live drawing class featuring cabaret performers as models.

PERFORMING ARTS

Music: Jazz Tribute to Guru
Sunday, July 25, 3-5 p.m.
Jazz musician Casey Benjamin (a.k.a. stutzmcgee) and friends pay homage to the 1990s hip-hop artist Keith "Guru" Elam, co-founder of the duo Gang Starr and a major figure in bridging hip-hop and jazz. A gallery talk on connections between the music and contemporary art in the Museum's collection precedes the performance at 2 p.m.

Gallery Tours

Creative Art Making: Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School leads a drawing session using live cabaret models as the subjects. There is a $15 materials fee, and registration is required.
