On Saturday, April 17, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join Megan Kerrigan of Marine Park at Brooklyn Borough Hall as hundreds of free couture prom dresses are distributed to deserving high school girls. Kerrigan has been handing out donated dresses since 2001, and this is the first time the event has been held in her home borough of Brooklyn. Kerrigan expects more than 1,700 girls from 35 Brooklyn schools and beyond to attend.

Hundreds of the dresses have been donated by renowned designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang, as well as "celebutante" Kim Kardashian (Keeping Up with the Kardashians). The event will also feature personal shoppers, full-length mirrors, shopping bags from top department stores and boutiques and free alterations.

"Megan believes that every girl, no matter her economic circumstances, should have a chance to feel like a fashion plate on prom night," said BP Markowitz, who honorEd Kerrigan at his 2010 State of the Borough Address in February. "I'm thrilled that this year she'll be putting smiles on faces right here at Borough Hall.

The even will take place from 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 17, at the Brooklyn Borough Hall Rotunda, located at 209 Joralemon Street between Court and Adams Streets in Downtown Brooklyn.
