Hook&Eye Theater has just announced works-in-progress, premiere dates for its fourth original play She-She-She. This vibrant collaborative piece tells a modern tale of alienation through the stories of six women across generations. Set in a New Deal-era women's work camp on New York's Bear Mountain, She-She-She highlights the nonlinear nature of progress, and explores how we wrestle with the intersections of our inheritance as we are informed and molded by our past. She-She-She will receive a works-in-progress performance at Dixon Place November 14 at 7:30pm in preparation for its Brooklyn premiere May 18-June 2, 2018 at the Mark O'Donnell Theater at the Actors Fund Arts Center.

In the 1930's, Eleanor Roosevelt championed the "She She She" camps as a New Deal program tailored for women, housed in America's National Parks. Jobless women from across the country moved away from their home of origin to gain hospitality and forestry training, and developed a uniquely progressive and interestingly cooperative education along the way. She-She-She is inspired by the friendship between Roosevelt and Pauli Murray (architect of the civil rights and women's movements, gender pioneer), sparked at Hudson Valley's Camp Tera. Despite their disparate perspectives shaped by their difference in race and class, a need for social justice and mutual respect served as the foundation for their friendship and catalyzed their shared ideation, learning and progress. Dixon Place will present She-She-She in its final stages of development after receiving workshops at New Ohio's 2016 Ice Factory Festival, SILO in Penn., and Adelphi.

Hook & Eye's fourth original collaborative theater piece was conceived by co-Artistic Director Carrie Heitman, and is directed by co-Artistic Director Chad Lindsey (Dir: God is a Verb, Hook & Eye; Actor: Pig Iron's CHEKHOV LIZARDBRAIN). She-She-She has been developed with writing from Cynthia Babak (founding member: Brave New World Rep; 2015 Tanne Foundation Award), and collaboration from the Hook & Eye performing ensemble: Cynthia Babak, Tia DeShazor, Carrie Heitman, Emily Kunkel, Elizabeth London, Nylda Mark, Javan Nelson, Jeremy Rafal, and Jamie Effros. Production Management is by Leah McVeigh, the Stage Manager is Katie Sammons. She-She-She is produced by Hook & Eye Theater, whose work has been called "rich, intelligent, funny," and "a testament to the collaborative process of theatre making," and creative producer Morgan Lindsey Tachco.

The company will seek crowdfunding for 30% of She-She-She through Fractured Atlas from November 1-15. Backers will have the opportunity to see the works-in-progress showing, secure early bird premiere seats, and vie for access to open rehearsals and one-on-ones with cast and creatives. Proceeds will go directly to support creative and production costs for the 2018 premiere of She-She-She at the Mark O'Donnell Theater at the Actors Fund Arts Center. hookandeyetheater.com
