New York--Bronx Dance Theatre (BDT) will celebrate its 38th year via the recital titled BDT ON BROADWAY, featuring excerpts from Broadway musicals "Cinderella" and "42nd Street," at Lehman High School Auditorium (3000 E. Tremont, Bronx) on Sunday, June 15, at 2 p.m.
BDT ON BROADWAY, featuring different dancing styles: classical ballet, tap, jazz, Flamenco, contemporary, hip hop, salsa, belly dance, and creative movement for toddlers, stars 360 of BDT's student dancers.
BDT, established in 1976, is a not-for-profit arts organization that receives support from New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency building strong creative communities in N.Y. State and counties for 50 years now; NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with The City Council; NYC Council representatives; other organizations such as NYC Department for the Aging, N.Y. Yankees Foundation, Harkness Foundation for Dance, N.Y. Stadium Community Benefits Fund, Northeast Bank, and The Belmont BID; and individuals Joel Rivera, James Vacca, Anabel Palma, Maria Del Carmen Arroyo, and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
"BDT incorporates the art form of dance into the fabric of Bronx life. All students learn discipline while experiencing the joy of dance, and learning to become independent and productive citizens," Artistic Director Barbara Klein and Executive Director Neil Goldstein said in a joint statement.
"The strong emphasis on classical dance techniques distinguishes BDT from other dance schools in the Bronx," both added.
