National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Master Program on Techno Art currently organizes a group exhibition, Broken Windows Theory, at Aglow Space in Tainan, and it is on display until January 28.

The students display their works in the show are Hsu Fan, Pei-Shan Huang, Yi-Chin Lee, Yi-Ning Lo, Tai-You Ye and Ting-Yi Yu, and the group skills set includes computer programming, industrial and graphic design, science and arts, curatorial practice, and digital holography.

Broken Windows Theory Exhibition is the first showing of artworks by students on the Techno Art Program at NCKU, together with their Professor, Eleanor Gates-Stuart.

Gates-Stuart explained, Broken Windows Theory represents breaking new ground for these artists as they openly question themselves, in relation to their society and their existence in this dynamic digital world.

The exhibition features a diverse range of works that incorporates: an installation of chaotic reflection as in, 'Which One?', an automated mirror installation; the beauty of Tainan City as a cultural city and as seen through Op Art holograms in 'If only you saw what I can see'; close up encounters of microscopic insect and plants in, 'In the mix' and 'Splendour'; the sound of time through, 'Analog stories'; all in the mind with 'Inside out'; politics of food and culture in 'Visual feast'; and the currency of gaming happiness in 'Pixels'.

Gates-Stuart addressed the challenges that these new techno artists have achieved during their first semester at NCKU saying, "The strength of this techno art program is to set our eyes on the unachievable and believe in the goals we set out to reach."

"These artists have taken the first steps in placing their ideas in public, an unfamiliar ground as yet, but one that seeks the audience to participate and certainly to give feedback," she added.

Professor Eleanor Gates-Stuart welcomes the public to contact them at NCKU for any further information and future collaborations with the Techno Art Program.
