Sales of Broadway's Carols for a Cure, Volume 12 have been so brisk in New York theaters that it has been difficult keeping up with the demand. Broadway theaters will be selling this CD only until Dec. 5th; however, the good news is that Broadway's Carols for a Cure will continue to be available at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) online or via phone. Lovers of Broadway talent can enjoy the holiday spirit, as well as support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS through the purchase of this 2-disc, annual CD of original and traditional holiday music from the current 2010 Broadway line-up. Broadway's Carols for a Cure, Volume 12, as well as volumes from previous seasons, can be ordered for only $20 through BC/EFA at broadwaycares.org or by calling (212) 840-0770 x250 Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EST. Expedited shipping is available, too.
Additionally, the CD will continue to be available at select venues across the U.S., including The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC; Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills; The LA Phil Store in Disney Hall; The John W. Engeman Theater in Northport, New York; and Arvada Center for the Arts in Colorado.
Described as "...a boggling collection of talent" (Philadelphia Inquirer), the 2010 Broadway's Carols for a Cure features Bernadette Peters with the company of A Little Night Music, Kelsey Grammer, 2010 Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge, Christine Andreas and the cast of Tony Award winning La Cage aux Folles; Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, from Next to Normal; the cast from "Best Musical" Tony Award winner Memphis; plus the casts from Wicked, Elf, In the Heights, Promises, Promises and more. Jackie Hoffman and the cast of The Addams Family sing "It's Chanukah," a Jackie Hoffman/Lon Hoyt original song written during their time together at Hairspray. And Broadway veteran Hunter Foster adds his voice to Million Dollar Quartet's version of Chuck Berry's "Run, Rudolph, Run." Traditional music on the cd includes "Do You Hear What I Hear?" reminiscent of Green Day's September, performed by the cast of American Idiot; "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" by Lion King cast members; and "O Holy Night," Mamma Mia's ode to the Jackson 5.
Broadway's Carols for a Cure is produced by Lynn Pinto for Rock-It Science Records and engineered by Andros Rodriguez. The series has raised over $3 million dollars for BC/EFA since its inception in 1999, providing support and care for those suffering with AIDS, as well as lending support to women's health issues. Pinto, a classically trained singer who made her Broadway debut in the 1998 revival of The Sound of Music, has been producing recordings for BC/EFA and many other artists ever since.
