Broadway's Andy Mientus, currently starring in the Tony-nominated revival of LES MISERABLES, will soon be heading to the small screen.

TVLine has confirmed that the stage star has joined the cast of The CW's latest superhero series, THE FLASH, fronted by Grant Gustin. Mientus will take on the role of "earing impaired (and openly gay) DC Comics villain Pied Piper (AKA Hartley Rathaway)." Mientus will make his first appearance on the eleventh episode of the series' first season.

Per TVLine: "Hartley is a bona fide genius who used to work at S.T.A.R. Labs until a falling out with his mentor, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). The particle accelerator robbed Hartley of his hearing, but inspired him to create a series of sonic weapons that he uses in an effort to punish Wells by destroying his new protege: The Flash."

As reported earlier today, fellow stage vet Victor Garber has also boarded the series as comic book character Dr. Martin Stein and will first be seen in episode 112.

The series also stars Candice Patton ("The Game") as Iris West, Rick Cosnett ("The Vampire Diaries") as Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker ("Necessary Roughness," "Justified") as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes ("Once" on Broadway) as Cisco Ramon, with Tom Cavanagh ("Ed," "Eli Stone") as Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin ("Law & Order") as Detective West.

Mientus recently made his Broadway debut in the current revival of LES MISERABLES. A Pittsburgh native, he toured the country in the first national tour of Spring Awakening and appeared in MCC Theater's production ofCarrie. On television, he was a series regular on the NBC musical drama "Smash," and this season has recurring roles on both the FX comedy "Anger Management" and the ABC Family drama "Chasing Life."
