Broadway's Andre De Shields to Star in THE BACKSEAT, Coming to Manhattan Film Festival, 6/26

André De Shields (Broadway's "The Wiz") and Chris Bellant (Warner Bros. upcoming "Into the Storm") star in "The Backseat", a high school coming of age comedy. The film will have its second ever New York screening at the Quad Cinema Thursday, June 26th, 7:00pm as part of the 8th Annual Manhattan Film Festival.

High school social outcasts Roy Offerman and Larry DiMarco struggle to find a drummer for their new punk rock band, Witness My Jehovah. But when the band is given their first major gig, Roy must face some of the toughest decisions he's ever had to make. High school love, punk rock, and hemorrhoids.

Bellant, who will next be seen in the Warner Bros. thriller "Black Sky", plays Roy Offerman. Bellant also recently starred in the indie drama "Living with the Dead", and "Fairfield", a horror film coming out next year. He can also be seen on A&E's "Those Who Kill" next year, which stars Chloe Sevigny and James D'Arcy. He will also appeared onstage this winter in Daniel Talbott's new play "Extraordinary Things" with Rising Phoenix Rep.

The film is written and directed by Ryan O'Leary, and produced by Noteworthy Productions, Ryan O'Leary, Daniel Herman, Lori Hamilton and Diana Costello. The film also stars John Cramer, Craig Kelly, and Allyson Reilly.
