Julian G, age 18, from Cleveland, OH has been announced as the winner of BroadwayWorld.com's Mary Poppins contest.
Back in July, Broadway World announced our "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocius" Sweepstakes! We asked thousands of contestants to forget about Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance and show off their best moves to win a trip for two to New York City to see Mary Poppins. After filling out the the entry form contestants were asked to watch the instructional video to learn the steps and then post their video on YouTube. We even included a link to download an MP3 clip of the song to use for their video!Julian of Ohio came out on top and will be enjoying a trip for two to the Big Apple to see the Disney hit on Broadway. Mary Poppins, a co-production by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre on November 16, 2006, and quickly proved to be a hit with audience members and critics alike.
Based on P.L. Travers's cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, the musical features the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. The stage production has been created, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh, by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who has written the book, and the Olivier Award-winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who have composed new songs and additional music and lyrics.
