BroadwayWorld.com is regretfully announcing the end of its (promised) exclusive, behind-the-scenes SPIDER-MAN: Turn Off The Dark webisode series, entitled 'Behind the Web', hosted by Broadway vet (and wife of SPIDEY's Green Goblin), Paige Davis.

This fresh idea was the brainchild of Ms. Davis, who came to us last summer, long before the musical went into rehearsal. We were given the green light by the show's second (and current) press office after replacing the original press team.

The series, which began in early November, was intended to run weekly leading up to the Broadway opening of the show.  The webisodes were designed to go inside the rehearsal and preview process as this multi-million dollar spectacular, directed by risk-taker Julie Taymor, evolved.

Well, you know what they say about "the best of intentions".....

Along with the production's own delays and widely reported problems, we found ourselves faced with constant filming cancellations, footage shot that would not be cleared and much less access than we had been led to believe we would have or expected to receive.

The goal was to promote the show ... not join in the "climate" currently on display. After all, there is an audience to serve and all eyes across the globe are on this show and people seem hungry for blood. That was not our intention.

Ultimately, we find ourselves left with extremely "limited" options that have resulted in our inability to film even 'authorized' videos.  We felt that the material 'suggestions' from the press would not serve our audience and the sort of content they'd come to expect from similar 'behind the scenes' features on BroadwayWorld.com.

Faced with these and other challenges, along with overflowing email inboxes, wondering "When the next episode might be posted on the site?", we made the difficult decision this morning to end the series and informed the production and its press officials that we were doing so.

We wish all those associated with the production and its public relations personnel only the very best and we will continue to cover the show, as we have been, in as great detail as supplied, or that we receive from our own sources ... on the inside.

We brought you much of the most accurate and early news, during this crazy preview period, at The Foxwoods Theatre, on Broadway.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to bring our special kind of coverage and affection for all the talent, efforts and hard work that went into this creation ... years in the making.
