Thanksgiving might be over, but that doesn't mean that there isn't anything left to be thankful for this year! Earlier this week, BroadwayWorld brought you entries from over 60 of Broadway's biggest stars on what they are counting their blessings for (CLICK HERE to check out the full list), but now we turn the tables and share with you the reasons why we are thankful this holiday season.
It's Broadway's long-running shows that keep Times Square bustling year-round with theatre-goers from around the world who are making it to the Great White Way for their first time. Chicago just celebrated its 17th anniversary on Broadway, having played over 7070 performances.
About the Show: Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
Curret Cast: Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Ryan Silverman as Billy Flynn, Christopher Fitzgerald as "Amos Hart," and Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton.
Signature Songs: "All That Jazz," "The Cell Block Tango," "Roxie," "Razzle Dazzle," and "Nowadays"
