BroadwayWorld is Most Thankful For: Last Season's Hits- MATILDA

Thanksgiving might be over, but that doesn't mean that there isn't anything left to be thankful for this year! Earlier this week, BroadwayWorld brought you entries from over 60 of Broadway's biggest stars on what they are counting their blessings for (CLICK HERE to check out the full list), but now we turn the tables and share with you the reasons why we are thankful this holiday season.

The 2013 theatre season brought some truly extraordinary productions, including Matilda, which is still playing at the Shubert Theatre. The musical earned twelve Tony nominations- taking home five, including a special honor for the four girls playing the title role.

About the Show: Winner of a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards including Best Musical, Matilda The Musical is based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl(Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox). It is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny.

Current Cast: The four girls sharing the title role are Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro, each of whom makes her Broadway debut. The principal cast also features Karen Aldridge (Mrs. Phelps),Gabriel Ebert (Mr. Wormwood), Chris Hoch (Miss Trunchbull), Lesli Margherita (Mrs. Wormwood), and Jill Paice (Miss Honey).
