Thanksgiving might be over, but that doesn't mean that there isn't anything left to be thankful for this year! Earlier this week, BroadwayWorld brought you entries from over 60 of Broadway's biggest stars on what they are counting their blessings for (CLICK HERE to check out the full list), but now we turn the tables and share with you the reasons why we are thankful this holiday season.
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, stage and screen star Hugh Jackman revealed that his next project, HOUDINI will hopefully come to Broadway "within a year or 18 months". In Houdini, Hugh Jackman will return to Broadway starring as America's greatest showman. One of the world's most fascinating figures takes center stage in Houdini, an original and contemporary look at the life--and death--of America's first superstar.
He will also soon star in a new movie musical based on the life of legendary circus showman PT Barnum. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that the timing allows him to do both!
Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien,Houdini is presented by film and theatre producer Scott Sanders and David Rockwell. Mr. Rockwell will also design the sets for Houdini. Additional Houdini casting, creative team and design team to be announced at a later date.
Jackman was most recently seen in Prisoners alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. Other upcoming big screen projects include X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Greatest Showman on Earth. He recently starred in The Wolverine and the Oscar-nominated movie adaptation of Les Miserables. Jackman has appeared on Broadway in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain and The Boy From Oz -- for which he won the 2004 Tony Award -- as well as off-Broadway's Carousel. In 2012, Jackman was honored with a Tony Award Special Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Theatre Community.
