Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you some cabaret highlights for this week as picked by our theatre editors, including: Steve Washington at the Metropolitan Room; Songbird in Concert by Lauren Pritchard & Michael Kimmel, Love Don't Need a Reason: A Benefit for Callen-Lorde; Ryan Scott Oliver and Lindsay Mendez's Actor Therapy; and 54 Sings 1776.

He became a member of Actors' Equity, the exclusive Broadway actor's union, when cast in the Arena Stage production of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. Forays into dramatic theater landed him a role as Demetrius in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Shakespeare Theater at the Folger. As a principal in Sir Cameron Mackintosh's Hey Mr. Producer, Steve appeared as the Engineer of Miss Saigon, Valjean of Les Miserables, and the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. Steve has said, "tackling those roles under the guidance of Sir Mackintosh himself remains one of the most rewarding experiences of my career."

In anticipation of the upcoming New York premiere of Songbird, written by Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye) with music and lyrics by Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), come join us for a one-night only event celebrating the music of Songbird as well as the songs that inspired it.
Based on Chekhov's The Seagull, Songbird is an exciting new take on the whiskey soaked nights and hung-over dreams of Nashville's contemporary country music scene.
The evening will include both Broadway veterans and its newest stars performing selections from the show, "Bonus Tracks" of never-performed material, and the classic country western tunes that inspired it.
The evening promises to be a raucous and soulful shindig providing a glimpse into the raw, acoustic world of Songbird, a community of creatives fueled on talent, promise and booze.
