Broadway and National Tour Stars Return to IN THE HEIGHTS at Theatre Under The Stars

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is thrilled to introduce you to the dynamic cast of In The Heights.

Anthony Lee Medina known for his television roles in Flesh and Bone, Blue Bloods and The Carrie Diaries will take on the role of Usnavi. Abuela Claudia will be played by Rayanne Gonzales who has appeared on Broadway in shows such as The Phantom of the Opera and who was in the first national tour of In The Heights.Danny Bolero, who appeared on Broadway and in the first national tour of In The Heights will reprise his role of Kevin Rosario. He has also appeared on television in shows such as Law & Order: SVU and in film in movies such as the The Hitcher.

Chelsea Zeno who appeared in the 2013 national tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert will play Vanessa. Michelle Beth Herman, who made her professional debut as The Lady of the Lake in New London Barn Playhouse's production of Monty Python's Spamalot, will play the role of Nina Rosario. Playing the role of Benny is actor,Blaine Krauss who recently played Simba in the national tour of The Lion King. Camila Rosario will be played by April Ortiz who appeared in the Broadway cast of and played Daniela in the first national tour of In The Heights. Isabel Santiago, who originated the role of Daniela in In The Heights on Broadway, will be playing Daniela. Alicia Taylor Tomasko who was also in the Broadway production of In The Heights will take on the role of Carla.

Rounding out the cast is Jonathan Arana, Philippe Arroyo, Wesley Barnes, Sarita Colon, Ellis Dawson, Yesy Garcia, Rebecca Kritzer, Michael Ivan Navarro, Adoralynn Pagan, Jamila Sabares-Klemm, Carlos Salazar, Michael Sylvester, Frank Viveros, and Ricardo Zayas.

In The Heights, the first Tony®-Award-winning show by Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame, will kick off the Theatre Under The Stars 2016-17 season on September 13, 2016.

Nick DeGruccio is directing the upcoming TUTS production of In The Heights. DeGruccio most recently directed the Los Angeles premiere of First Date, and has a lauded history of direction on the West Coast. His credits include Next to Normal, Man of La Mancha, The Last 5 Years, Putting It Together and Rent. He's received 10 LA Ovation nominations for Direction and won three LA Ovation awards - two for Direction of a Musical (2008, 2004) and for Direction of a Play (2002), the 2014 Desert Theatre League Award for Direction and the 2009 Backstage Garland award for Direction for an Outstanding Season among many others. No stranger to acting, his many performance credits include City of Angels, Dracula, The Pajama Game, Frasier and Everybody Loves Raymond.

In The Heights will be choreographed by Jose-Luis Lopez whose performance credits include, most recently, On Your Feet! and the Broadway and touring productions of In The Heights. Lopez will be recreating the original highly praised choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler who also recently won the Tony® Award for Hamilton: An American Musical. The scenic and costume design for this production will also be based on that of the original Broadway production.
