Symphony Space's 2005-2006 season will encompass over 500 shows, and a number of them are Broadway-related. Among the guest artists on the literature and music series will be cabaret star Andrea Marcovicci and film/stage star Sigourney Weaver performing as part of the The Thalia Book Club, and Rebecca Luker and conductor Rob Fisher in Broadway & Beyond.

On Monday Nights, Broadway stars will migrate uptown to showcase their work. The series includes The Thalia Follies: A Political Cabaret, six evenings of political satire (Oct. 24th, Nov. 21st, Jan. 23rd, Feb. 20th, April 17th, May 8th); New Voices, three evenings of original art songs (Oct. 10th, Dec. 5th, Feb. 13th); three evenings of Alternative Torch (Nov. 7th, March 13th, May 22nd); and three evenings of Rush Hour Chamber music by the best of Broadway's pit musicians (Sept. 19th, Jan. 16nd, April 24th). Luker (Show Boat, The Music Man, Nine) will be featured with the Brentano String Quartet as part of Broadway & Beyond on February 2nd. All performances take place in the 175-seat Leonard Nimoy Thalia and the 760-seat Peter Jay Sharp Theatre.

As for other events, Symphony Space will offer up a cornucopia of art, music, film and dance. Five marathons (including three new ones) will explore The Book That Changed My Life (on Oct. 22nd, 2005 presented in collaboration with LIVE from The New York Public Library, and sponsored by Random House), The Wocka Wocka Festival: A Jim Henson Celebration (December 17th), Wall to Wall Stravinsky (March 18th, 2006), The Dance Sampler (April 29th), and on June 16th, Symphony Space will present the 25th anniversary of its annual James Joyce celebration, Bloomsday on Broadway.

February 2nd will mark the premiere of the first of three concerts called Symphony Space Live, a new musical variety series produced for radio broadcast. From April 28 to May 14, 2006, the first annual Upper West Fest, sponsored by Zabar's will be a two-week showcase of the best in the arts between 72nd and 116th Streets. Confirmed participants so far include almost a dozen prominent organizations. The Global Rhythms series is a blend of native musical idioms with the sounds of international pop music and Cinema 360° is an 8-week seminar in the newly-designed and intimate Thalia Studio, hosted by film curator Fabiano Canosa, and featuring acknowledged and unsung masterpieces and controversial works. In addition, Jane Fonda will be one of the featured guests (as she reads from her autobiography) in Selected Shorts, Symphony Space's literary program. A number of other events and series are also lined up, but are too numerous to list.
