After sold-out runs at both The New York International Fringe Festival and an extension at The Fringe Encore Series, Broadway Theatre Studio is proud to present THE IMBIBLE: A SPIRITED HISTORY OF DRINKING at the historic Off-Broadway SoHo Playhouse.

Following in the footsteps of hit comedy-edutainment shows like Assume the Position with Mr. Wuhl and Colin Quinn's Long Story Short, THE IMBIBLE sweeps audiences along a 10,000-year journey through history and across the globe accompanied by craft cocktails and the vocal stylings of The Backwaiters acappella group! The Huffington Post proclaims THE IMBIBLE is "an absolute must-see!"

Sit back and enjoy the music and drinks while Anthony holds forth on the history and science behind alcoholic beverages, traces their economic and political impact on our cultural development, conducts live demonstrations of brewing beer and distilling spirits, guides the audience through cocktail tastings, and - like any good bartender - keeps his guests laughing throughout the night! Combining Anthony's encyclopedic knowledge of beverage history and decades of bartending experience with his legendary skills as a storyteller and entertainer, THE IMBIBLE treats audiences to a completely original and thoroughly enjoyable evening of theatre utterly unlike anything they've ever experienced! The New York Times declared THE IMBIBLE was "the best Fringe deal!"

This show features playwright Anthony Caporale as The Bartender, joined by Nicole DiMattei, who also directs the show, and The Backwaiters acapella group. Anthony is perhaps best known as the Producer and Host of Art of the Drink TV, the first cocktail web show frequently cited by many of today's leading bartenders as one of the harbingers of the craft cocktail movement. He is also a favorite guest on many TV and radio programs including The Dr. Oz Show, The Better Show, and FOX Money. Anthony currently serves as the Director of Beverage Studies at New York's award-winning Institute of Culinary Education, and he was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steven L. Beshear for his work promoting and educating consumers about Bourbon.

Broadway Theatre Studio (broadwaytheatrestudio.com) was founded by Caporale and DiMattei in 2009 as a development workshop and incubator for new American plays and musicals. Hundreds of actors have attended BTS workshops since its inception, and the company has collaborated with some of the best writing talent in New York. Last season, BTS produced original works in both the Manhattan Repertory Theatre One-Act Play Competition and the Strawberry One-Act Festival, advancing to the finals in the latter while earning DiMattei a Best Actress nomination along the way.
