The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Broadway theater owner Rocco Landesman is currently leading a bidding group to buy the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.
The Tribune states, " A Chicago real-estate firm has made an offer to buy Wrigley Field separately, because the Tribune Co.'s auction of the Cubs also includes an unconventional plan to sell the ballpark separately. The company, which also owns the Chicago Tribune, sees the potential for reaping more for the team and stadium if they are sold separately."For most bidders this is a draw back because it means having to deal with a landlord than being sole owner. Mr. Landsman is currently the high bidder. He is the president and owner of Jujamcyn Theaters which includes the Eugene O' Neill, the Al Hirschfeld, the Walter Kerr, the St. James, and the August Wilson.
