Fall has officially begun and with it, spooky season is in full force. That means it's time to tune into your favorite Halloween movies and shows, both new and old.
From animated musicals like The Nightmare Before Christmas to spine-chilling new shows featuring Tony Award-winning performers and Broadway stars, there is plenty to stream to get you in the Halloween mood.

Grotesquerie (Available September 26)
In FX’s Grotesquerie, a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan. However, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers. The series stars Travis Kelce and Niecy Nash-Betts along with theater actors Micaela Diamond, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville.
Hold Your Breath (Available October 3)
In 1930s Oklahoma amid the region’s horrific dust storms, a woman is convinced that a sinister presence is threatening her family. The movie stars Tony Award winners Sarah Paulson and Annaleigh Ashford along with Amiah Miller, Alona Jane Robbins, Ebon Moss-Backrach, and Bill Heck.
Hocus Pocus 1 and 2
Both Hocus Pocus films feature Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the notorious Sanderson Sisters. The sequel took place 29 years after someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the witches, bringing them back for revenge.
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
This holiday musical, based on a story by Tim Burton, has become a cult classic since its debut in 1993. The movie follows Jack Skellington, the mayor of Halloween Town who becomes transfixed with the Christmas holiday. Featuring stop-motion animation and original songs by Danny Elfman, the voice cast includes Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, and Drama Desk Award- winner Ken Page.
Coco
Despite his family's baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. This Pixar film centering on Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) features original music including "Remember Me" by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
An apprentice witch, three kids, and a cynical magician conman search for the missing component of a magic spell to be used in the defense of Britain in World War II. Angela Lansbury stars in this musical, which features songs written by The Sherman Brothers.
Into the Woods
This film adaptation of the popular Stephen Sondheim musical features an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Christine Baranski, James Corden, Chris Pine, and more.
Agatha All Along
In the series, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven. The series, which sees Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as the titular witch, also stars Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza and features new music by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Muppets Haunted Mansion
The Great Gonzo - world famous daredevil artiste, has done it all, seen it all, and survived it all. But on Halloween night, the fearless Gonzo takes on the greatest challenge of his life by spending one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth ...The Haunted Mansion. This musical special features Darren Criss, Will Arnett, Taraji P. Henson, and the Muppets.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
In the 1966 animated special "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," The PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. Charlie Brown and the PEANUTS gang were seen on Broadway in the musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Sweeney Todd (Available Oct 1 with Paramount+ with SHOWTIME)
This 2007 Tim Burton film is an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's landmark musical about a murderous barber, recently seen on Broadway with Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford. The movie takes the blood and gore to a whole new level and features Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, and Laura Michelle Kelly.
The Addams Family
When long-lost Uncle Fester reappears after twenty-five years in the Bermuda Triangle, Gomez and Morticia plan a celebration to wake the dead. This 1991 film was a reboot of the classic television series and comic which also spawned a Broadway musical of the same name.
Beetlejuice
The classic horror-comedy revolves around a recently deceased young couple who become ghosts haunting their former home and an obnoxious, devious "bio-exorcist" named Beetlejuice from the underworld who tries to scare away the new inhabitants permanently. The film later spawned a Broadway musical adaptation and a sequel, which is in theaters now.
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (Available October 1)
More than ten years after The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton and Danny Elfman reunited for another stop-motion musical. This time, the story the prospective groom who, after his wedding ceremony goes awry, falls in love with a long-dead bride. The voice cast includes Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, and Albert Finney.
Trap (Available October 25)
This film revolves around a father and teen daughter who attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event. Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Trap stars Josh Hartnett along with Hayley Mills, the child actress from The Parent Trap and Pollyanna. In 2022, Mills returned to the stage in the West End production of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
