A host of Broadway stars will perform in an evening celebrating three generations of working artists entitled "They Were You" to support the innovative theatre company and school, THE ARTIST'S CROSSING at 7pm on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at Barrow Street Theatre, 27 Barrow Street, New York, NY 10014.
Performers include Tony Award Winners
George S. Irving (Me and My Girl, Irene) and
Tom Jones (The Fantasticks, 110 in the Shade), as well as
Yolande Bavan (Bernarda Alba,
Bombay Dreams),
Judith Blazer (LoveMusik, Titanic), Sherry Boone (Marie Christine, Ragtime), Darius DeHaas (Marie Christine,
Rent),
Malcolm Gets (Amour, A New Brain),
Ann Harada (
Avenue Q, Les Miserables),
Jose Llana (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Flower Drum Song),
Daniel Reichard (
Jersey Boys, NYCO's Candide) and Cabaret star
Julie Wilson (Legs Diamond, The Pajama Game). Featuring direction by
Jack Cummings, Artistic Director of The Transport Group and musical direction and arrangements by
Joseph Thalken (Harold and Maude, Was) and
Steve Marzullo (
Mamma Mia!, Once on this Island).
Founded in 2004 by
Judith Blazer, Joseph Bates and Landon Scott Heimbach, THE ARTISTS CROSSING is dedicated to promoting, cultivating and fostering young talent by bringing together a diverse group of seasoned artists to mentor and guide them through workshops, the creation of new works and productions of existing repertoire.
The company has conducted workshops in Dayton, Ohio and New York City, produced a reading of a new play, THE DELI and has worked with
Mary Mitchell Campbell's company, ASTEP, as well as IMPACT Theatre Company. This summer the company plans to host a variety of Master Classes/Seminars as well as a College Preparation Weekend Intensive in New York City.
