As the Boy Scouts of America celebrates its 100th Anniversary this year, the Greater New York Council is launching into the next century by reintroducing New York City to the excitement and adventure of Scouting.
For their Times Square Jamboree, New York Scouts are inviting all area families to participate in numerous free activities like Times Square has never seen, including:
· A canoe canal
· Climbing walls
· Virtual archery and kayaking
· Thousands of Scouts camping overnight at the Staten Island Yankees' ballpark and the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum
· An evening stage show featuring Scout emcees, local talent, and a broadcast of the exciting Centennial Celebration Show from the National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Va.
For 100 years, the BSA has created a foundation of leadership, service, and community for millions of America's youth.
· Staten Island Yankees ballpark campout-7 p.m., Friday, July 30
· Scouting activities in Times Square-11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 31
· Stage show in Times Square-6 p.m., Saturday, July 31
· Intrepid Museum campout-following stage show, Saturday, July 31
