Charles Reynolds, who acted as magic consultant for the Broadway productions of Into the Woods and Merlin, has passed away at the age of 78. Reynolds died in his Manhattan home from liver cancer. He is survived by his wife, Regina.
Some of Reynolds more notable illusions incuded making a live white horse disappear on stage in Merlin, and chop a character in half in Backstone!. In 1983, Reynolds won a Drama Desk Award for special effects. The University of Michigan graduate wrote several books about magic, he served as the chief magic consultant for all eight of Mr. Henning's annual one-hour magic specials.
In addition to the Broadway stage, Reynolds' illusions were seen on "Saturday Night Live" and at the Metropolitan Opera. Additional Broadway credits include Doug Henning and His Sleight of Hand, The Stitch in Time, and Big.
