Broadway Kids Care (BKC), the organization of theater kids for kids (and others), will host its 4th annual Bake Sale. Kids from such Broadway shows as Addams Family, Billy Elliot the Musical, Elf, Mary Poppins, The Lion King and more, will sell baked goods in the Fireman's Memorial Park at the Ritz Plaza (48th Street between Broadway and 8th Ave.) on Wednesday, December 8th between their matinee and evening performances (5:00 - 7:00 p.m.). Proceeds from the "Shine for Shannon" Bake Sale will benefit the Shannon Taverez fund. Shannon Tavarez was recently nominated by Alicia Keys for Time Magazine's person of the year, after Shannon lost her brave battle to leukemia. Shannon's spirit shines brightly and has brought about an increased awareness to a disease that scientists believe will be possible to cure.

Broadway Kids Care was founded by Kelly Gonda in 2007 as a way to bring children together from current and past Broadway shows and offer them the opportunity to perform community service. Since its beginning, BKC has hosted Holiday Events and assembled packages for the children of Freedom House. Broadway Kids Care also entertains the residents of the Lillian Booth Actor's Home with a holiday concert and handmade gifts. In the past they have knit scarves, sent care packages to the Troops in Iraq, decorated hats and bandannas for children undergoing chemo at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, and raised money for the UNICEF/Pampers One Pack=One Vaccine program.

BKC's dream is to become a nationwide organization.
