Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) is bringing its Outreach Program to Ronald McDonald House NY today, September 12th, with Brian Crawley, Ben Chavez, Steven Lutvak, and more.

Now in its seventh year, "Songs in the Key of Me" matches songwriters with a pediatric patient and their family. The composer/lyricists for the September program are: Brian Crawley (Violet, The Audience) & Darius Smith (2015 Stephen Sondheim Young Artist Citation Recipient); Ben Chavez & Yianni Papadimos; Steven Lutvak (2006 Kleban Award for Lyric Writing for the Theater; 2006 Fred Ebb Award for Songwriting for the Theater); Amanda Yesnowitz (2014 Jamie deRoy and Friends Award; 2001 Jonathan Larson Award) & Deborah Abramson (2014 Jamie deRoy and Friends Award); and Phillip Palmer & Stacey Luftig (both awarded 2017 Jerry Bock Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre).

BIV's Outreach Program, "Songs in the Key of Me," matches composers with youth and families in need. Each team crafts a personal song about and for patients, family members, and/or caregivers over the course of several weeks. Culminating in a public performance, each song is presented to the children and sung BIV members, or by others within the Broadway community.

The program, coordinated by BIV Outreach Director Danielle Kamillah Thomas and RMDH Hospital Outreach Program Associate Jennifer Ricca, will be presented today, September 12th. This event is by invitation only.

RMHNY is a catalyst for both family-centered care and access to quality health care through two core programs: the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room. For more information, please click here.

Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) was founded by Tony-nominated Michael McElroy in 1994 as the Broadway Gospel Choir. In 1999 BIV reincarnated to its current name. In 2010 BIV became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide HOPE to INSPIRE and TRANSFORM youth in need through music and The Arts. In addition to numerous solo concerts, the Grammy-nominated choir (for "Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas" on Sh-K-Boom Records) has performed with award-winning artists including Elton John, STING, Jason Mraz, Mariah Carey, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vanessa Williams, Heather Headley, and Billy Porter. Additionally, BIV has been featured on "This Week" with John Oliver, The Miss AmErica Pageant, multiple Tony Awards Telecasts, "America's Got Talent", "Late Night" with David Letterman, NBC's hit show "SMASH", and "The Rosie O'Donnell Christmas Special". They have also played venues like Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Crystal Cathedral, and Constitution Hall. Their second album, "Great Joy II: Around the World" was released in the fall of 2016, along with their new web series, "Broadway Our Way", on YouTube.
