Broadway Director JOEL ZWICK to Take HNB Hot Seat, 10/26

Sandra Lord, founder of The Hollywood Networking Breakfast (HNB), is proud to announce that Joel Zwick will take the hot seat for the Hollywood Networking Breakfast, on October 26th.

Renowned director of film, television and theater, Joel Zwick helmed the box office smash My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time. The multitalented director, producer, actor and writer is recognized as one of Hollywood's most prolific directors of episodic television, credited with directing 585 episodes. These include 21 pilots, which have gone on to become regular series (Parenthood, Brothers, Wayans Bros., Family Matters, Bosom Buddies, etc.).

Joel is highly regarded in the theatrical world as well, where he has directed on Broadway, Off-Broadway and Broadway touring companies, including the Tony nominated, Dance With Me, Shenandoah (Broadway national tour), Oklahoma (national tour) and Last Chance Saloon and Woycek (West End, London). Joel Zwick also directed actress, Debra Ehrhardt's NAACP award-wining play, Jamaica Farewell (still touring), which was optioned by Rita Wilson and produced with Garry Marshall at the Falcon Theatre. Joel currently directs several shows for the Disney Channel including Shake It Up, Jessie, I didn't do it and Girl Meets World.

He has three film projects, two musicals and two new one-man shows in the works. Joel Zwick has taught drama at Yale University, Brooklyn College, Queens College, Wheaton College, and the University of Southern California. He is a graduate (B.A., M.A.) of Brooklyn College. Joining Mr. Zwick at the HNB is JAMAICA FAREWELL, who is playing the Santa Monica Playhouse's Main Stage.

HBN was founded on the Paramount Studios Lot in 1993 by Sandra Lord, as a means to providing opportunities for industry professionals and emerging talent. Some of the most respected individuals, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, have offered patrons insight and advise. For the last 19 years the event has hosted Academy, Golden Globe, Peabody and Emmy Award winners and nominees, as well as top Hollywood Studio Heads and Production Company Presidents. The breakfast benefits Changing Images in America -- a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting diversity in American culture, with a focus on the entertainment industry. The event attracts a diverse group of writers, producers, actors, directors, financiers, attorneys, talent reps, crew and others at various levels of experience and achievement. HNB has proven to be a valuable resource for professional and aspiring industry members. The event has facilitated many collaborations and networking opportunities. A very popular feature for attendees and speakers alike has been the facilitation of a one-time mentorship, wherein speakers take a general meeting, "do lunch" or agree to be shadowed for part of their day by a promising "lucky attendee." This opportunity is all in keeping with Ms. Lord's goal to continue facilitating opportunities of access for attendees - especially those who are prepared and need a "leg up."
