Danny Burstein 

"WHAAAAT!" TWO TIME TONY Award Nominee Danny Burstein is in the studio.  First Nominated for his protrayal of Aldolpho in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Danny Burstein is now up for another Tony Award for his performance as Luther BIllis is the multiple Tony Nominated revival of SOUTH PACIFIC at Lincoln Center.  Danny talks with us about the thrill of the nomination and the challanges of being a character actor on Broadway.  We also hear a couple of songs from Mr Burstein, "I am Aldolpho" from THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, and from the New Broadway Cast Recording of SOUTH PACIFIC, "Nothing Like a Dame".

THE CALLBOARD

ATLANTIC THEATRE COMPANY WILL debut the newest play from Tony Award Nominee and Olivier Award Winner, Conor McPherson, PORT AUTHORITY.  The production, directed by Peter Wishcamper, went into previews on April 30th, with an opening date of May 22, 2008.  The Cast will include Tony Award winner John Gallagher jr, Tony Nominee and future star of SHREK: THE MUSICAL, Brian d'Arcy James, and Olivier Winner Jim Norton.

THE MONSTER FROM THE new Mel Brooks Musical, Young Frankenstein, will make his way to the Chatterbox on May 22.  The live talk show is hosted by Seth Rudestsky and admission is a $10 donation to Equity Fights Aids.  The interview and live performance will take place at Don't Tell Mamma's, a well known nightclub in Midtown.

THE COUNTRY'S ONLY TWO time Tony Award winning theatre company, Goodspeed, announced that they will be extending their run of the new musical Happy Days through July 4, 2008.  The musical is based on the Paramount Pictures Television series of the same name, has a book by the show's creator, Gary Marshall and Music and Lyrics by Golden Globe Winner and Grammy Winner Paul Williams.

ITS BACK AND THEY'RE out for blood.  The new version of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY will return after a spring hiatus with it's newest revue which will feature some old favorites as well as spoof on LuPone in GYPSY!, SOUTH PACIFIC, and GREASE - "YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I HATE."  This will mark the Drama Desk Award winning shows 15th year spoofing the best and worst of Broadway.

SHE SINGS, SHE DANCES, she performs with man eating plants, she roller skates, is there anything Kerry Butler can't do?  It seemed for awhile she couldn't get a Tony Nomination, but the times have changed and one of Broadway's finest young talents has gotten her gold.  Kerry Butler comes in to talk to us about her new album, "Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust", a compilation of Disney tunes.  We might even be able to get some secrets from behind the curtains of Broadway's biggest surprise hit.  We also get to hear two songs from Ms Butler's new album

Capathia Jenkins and Louis Rosen 

SHE WAS THE WOMAN who brought the house down in Martin Short: FAME BECOMES ME, and now she's bringing down the house in her own way, and in her own show, ONE OUNCE OF TRUTH.  Capathia Jenkins and her composer/guitarist Louis Rosen cam by the studio to talk a little bit about the new cabaret at Joe's Pub and also about Ms Jenkins new cd, "One Ounce of Truth".  We also get the treat of having two in studio performances by Ms Jenkins and Mr rosen, accompanied by bassist, Dave Phillips: "The Moon Shines Down" and "That Day".

"LOVING MOVIES IS EASY, loving people is hard" says one of the taglines for the newest production from PossEble Theater Company.  CINEPHILIA follows the failing relationship of two movie lovers and their obsession with sex and film that holds them together.  Embracing the mission statement of the theater group this production showcases ne talent and breaks down the walls of race in theater, showcasing real life as opposed to a dream world.  We sit down with Actor Katie Capiello and director Michael Silverstone to discuss the new show and what it's doing for the theatre world.

TOP OF THE TRADES 

WICKED IN CHICAGO FLIES the coop.  After 1,500 performances and over $200 million in Box Office, the Chicago company of WICKED will be taking its final bow in January 2009.  After housing actors like Anna Geyster at the Ford Center for the Perfoming Arts, Oriental Theatre, the first Broadway company based in Chicago says that the show has come to a bitterwseet end.  With the success of WICKED, Chicago plans to bring more Broadway Companies to the Windy City in the future.

THE NOMINATIONS ARE IN for the 2008 Tony Awards.  On May 13, 2008, in a ceremony in at the Library for the Performing Arts, hosted by Sara Ramirez and David Hyde Pierce, nominees were announced in all 27 of the competitive categories.  A highlight of the nominees are:  Best Musical - CRY-BABY, In The Heights, PASSING STRANGE, and XANADU; Best Play - AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, ROCK 'N' ROLL, THE 39 STEPS, and THE SEAFARER;  Best Musical Revival - SUNDAY IN THE PARK..., GYPSY!, GREASE, and SOUTH PACIFIC; Best Revival of a Play - BOEING-BOEING, THE HOMECOMING, MACBETH, LES LIASIONS DANGEREUS; and The Lifetime Achievement Tony - Stephen Sondheim

The Great American All-Star Traveling War Machine 

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU take cabaret and mix in a lot of good clean warring fun?  Well what you have is the new performance piece THE GREAT AMERICAN ALL-STAR WAR MACHINE, the new production from the Irondale Ensemble Project.  Taking songs and music from almost all major wars and battles and combining them with sketches and new material written by the company members, this ambitious project shows the differences and similarities between people who perpetuate and people who try to stop the war machine.  We sit down with director Jim Niesen to talk about the show and we hear tow songs from the production as well.

Coyote Rep's Lone Wolf Series
