#BBTFNY, the boutique theatre showcase committed to empowering playwrights to actively shape their success, is returning to NYC for its third year and celebrating by relocating to the heart of the Theatre District.
Taking to the stage during the summer of 2019, only 20 of the most stimulating original plays will be selected to receive three performances in the 88-seat Lion Theatre in the renowned Off-Broadway performance center, Theatre Row. Right on 42nd Street Theatre Row has been the choice of many professional Off-Broadway premieres.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to call Theatre Row our new home," says Festival Director, Lenore Skomal. "Any playwright should be delighted and honored to showcase their work at this quintessential theatrical venue. We're looking forward to hosting some outstanding new work there next summer."
From acceptance, BBTF participants receive hands-on training and support to ensure a top quality production.
"Historically, New York City festivals have had the sink-or-swim philosophy, which has resulted in many playwrights burning out from the process. BBTF is unique in that it was founded on the principle that producing one's own work can be an exhilarating and empowering experience, if done with support and education."
This includes workshops, regular information packets, access to an interactive online forum, personal relationships with the key festival staff members, an audience talk back, and complimentary tickets to attend every other show in the festival.
