Broadway & American Idol Vets Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo Engaged on Air

On tonight's live finale of AMERICAN IDOL, Broadway veterans and real life couple Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo got engaged on the broadcast. Host Ryan Seacrest brought the pair up on stage during a segment noting previous Idol-alumni in the audience, followed by a proposal from Young. Diana's answer? YES! 

The happy couple are former American Idol contestants and also co-starred in the recent Broadway revival of HAIR.

Ace Young made his Broadway debut in GREASE in the role of "Kenickie." An "American Idol" finalist in Season 5 and a Grammy nominated songwriter, Ace has guest-starred on Fox's "Bones," co-hosted "American Idol Extra" and co-produced his debut album,Ace Young.

Actress and American Idol runner-up Diana DeGarmo made her Broadway debut in a four-month run in Hairspray as nerdy character Penny Pingleton in February 2006. She played the role of Sarah, the sexy, blind librarian and love interest of Toxie in the Off Broadway musical, The Toxic Avenger, and went on to star as Sheila in the Broadway company of Hair and Doralee Rhodes in the national tour of 9 to 5.
