British Singer Portia Emare Makes New York Debut at The Living Room, 12/15

British singer and Priscilla diva Portia Emare will make her New York, solo debut this week at the capital's legendary acoustic lounge Upstairs at The Living Room on Saturday 15 December at 11.30pm. Portia will be live and acoustic, performing some of her own material and also songs that have inspired and influenced her along the way.

Portia is probably best known for being one third of the 'Divas' in the Whatsonstage.com award-nominated West End musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Previous to that Portia played Nala in Disney's The Lion King, toured internationally with Mamma Mia! and most recently played the role of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia.

Gifted with an exceptional vocal ability and lyrical poeticism, Portia is a singer and songwriter currently recording her first EP, having worked with many prolific producers such as Tiesto, OD Hunte, KosmetiQ, Dave Rose & Jerome Robins. She regularly writes and performs with the Los Charlys Orchestra having recently played the Royal Festival Hall, Ronnie Scott's, Jazz Cafe and at the infamous Blue Marlin on the island of Ibiza. Earlier this year Portia sang at the legendary Ministry of Sound for the capital's Love Box Festival, and can be heard in the UK on television advertisements for Confused.com and Go Compare. She scored her first No.1 on the Dutch dance charts featuring on 'Happiness' by producer / DJ Ferre Santos, and releases her first solo EP in 2013. Portia recently performed a solo acoustic evening at the Ibiza Rocks House (Pikes) featuring original material and was reviewed by ibiza.com as 2013's one to watch. She is one third of The IDolls and a lead vocalist for The IT Girls, with whom she regularly performs with, all over the world.

Portia is presented at Googie's Lounge by The List Agency; founded by British theatre producers Paul Spicer and Matt Firth, The List is a UK based agency working with new musical talent in the UK.
