"As more young people are showing an interest in pursuing the arts, more schools are offering performing arts programs as part of their elective courses. Also more community theater groups are exploring new works as well as the classics. PB Entertainment Workshops offer a unique opportunity designed to enhance your theatrical pursuits, working with seasoned Broadway veterans who share their professional theater experiences in a workshop setting. Here is a brief idea of what to expect from our one day 'artist in residence' program:
In The Master Class session, participants perform a song for an audience of their peers and other guests as if they were auditioning. In a positive, supportive environment, each student will be critiqued and offered opinions and suggestions on how the performance might be improved. This class also features a short performance/demonstration and a question and answer session on 'the business.' The workshop focuses on acting skills and goals including improvisation, role-playing and characterization. The Class can be tailored to include your current production and/or build a solid foundation for your actors.
Our Dance/Theater Audition Workshop will focus on various physical dance styles and vocal warm ups. Our experienced artists will offer a valuable mini-course on auditioning, including how to do a cold reading and a step-by-step of how to prepare for a musical audition and "mock" audition and evaluation of the participants. Developed for young performers, we develop our voices, our bodies, our faces and our minds using vocal warm-ups, physical exercises, acting games and improvisation exercises. We learn to think quickly, be spontaneous and make strong dramatic choices to bring a nice presentation to a well-thought out performance.
Our goal is to bring these valuable educational and entertaining programs to more schools and theater groups. In order to do so, PB Entertainment offers single school programs or invites one school to invite another local school to be part of the workshop program in an affordable setting that benefits all.
We work with some of the best of Broadway's professional performers who bring years of experience to your students including Broadway and concert star Craig Schulman, star of Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, and Jekyll & Hyde.; Broadway dancer/choreographer Renee Chambers from Smokey Joe's Café, Starlight Express, and Dreamgirls; Broadway's own Donna McKechnie, original Cassie from A Chorus Line, who brings a wealth of theatrical/dance experiences to share; Norm Lewis who has starred in Broadway shows including Side Show, Chicago, Ragtime and currently Les Miserables; Jeff Gardner, whose many talents include impersonation and improvisation expert, comedy, and professional theatrical make up instructor, in addition to his Broadway acting credits.
We will work with your artistic teacher/musical director and staff to customize a program exclusively for you."
