Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James will reprise his Obie-winning role in Conor McPherson's The Good Thief for the Keen Company's one-night only benefit at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, on November 2nd.

In the Keen's first season, Brian d'Arcy James won an Obie for his performance in Keen's American premiere production of Conor McPherson's The Good Thief.

Ben Brantley wrote in The New York Times, "James knows just how to perform the sleight of hand that's required in an exquisitely calibrated performance. What's described is ugly and violent; the description itself is hypnotically soft-spoken. And from this contradiction there somehow emerges a glimpse of redeeming grace."

James is currently starring as the title character in Shrek The Musical. For his celebrated performance, he received a Tony nomination and won the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

After departing Shrek The Musical on November 8th, Brian d'Arcy James will join the cast of the upcoming New York premiere of Donald Margulies' TIME STANDS STILL at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). It is scheduled to begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater on Jan. 5th and open on Jan. 28th.

He returns to MTC after appearing in the acclaimed production of Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination. James' other theatre credits include the Off-Broadway production of Next To Normal, Port Authority, The Apple Tree, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, and Sweet Smell of Success for which he was honored with Tony and Drama Desk nominations.

Tickets for the Keen Benefit will be $100 for the general public, but subscribers can get seats for just $50! For more information, visit www.keencompany.org.

Keen Company has produced twenty-three full-length plays in its nine seasons. It has been honored with seven Drama Desk Nominations and one win, two transfers, an Obie, a 2005 Special Drama Desk Award "for moving and enlightening audiences with plays that build upon our theatrical heritage" and a 2008 Obie Grant.
