Variety, the world's premier source of entertainment news, has announced several organizational changes within its senior management team.
Brian Gott will assume the role of Publisher, responsible for the day-to-day management of Variety. His duties include licensing, strategic partnerships, brand extension, and new product development. Previously VP & Associate Publisher, Gott joined Variety in 1999.
In addition, Linda Buckley-Bruno, the Group Publisher of the Home Entertainment Group (HEG) for Variety's parent-company, Reed Business Information, will assume the role of Publishing Director for the Variety Group. Buckley-Bruno will look after the global sales operations for Daily Variety, Weekly Variety and Variety.com, in addition to the HEG properties.
"Variety has a very aggressive new product development plan for the next two years," said Neil Stiles, who retains the title of Variety Group president while relinquishing the title of publisher. "These appointments at the top of our company give everyone the band width to execute their ideas faster and more effectively. I am especially delighted to be able to promote Brian and Linda, two very talented executives. I am handing the role of Publisher to Brian in order to focus more of my attention on longer term planning."
With Buckley-Bruno taking on increased responsibility at Variety, Marcy Magiera will take the role of Editorial Director for the Home Entertainment Group. She will also be promoted to Associate Publisher of Video Business.
Michelle Sobrino-Stearns will assume the role of VP & Associate Publisher for Variety. She will manage the daily sales operations for all Variety products. Additionally, she will maintain her oversight of the development and programming of Variety's slate of print and online features and custom publishing efforts.
"Michelle is an exceptional talent. Her understanding of the changing landscape of our industry, coupled with an intense knowledge of our marketplace, makes her ideal to step into this role," said Gott.
Kimberley Gebbett has been promoted to Director of Marketing for the Variety Group. She will manage research, branding, events and audience development efforts. Gebbett has been with Variety since 2008, and joined the company from Reed Business Information UK, where she worked for six years across a number of portfolios.
"Kimberley brings a fresh and unique perspective to the Variety Group's marketing efforts. Her strategic insight is second-to-none, and we expect Kimberley will bring a new and powerful voice to our suite of products," said Gott.
