Lisa Brescia has replaced Caren Lyn Manuel in the role of "Cleo" in the The Times They Are A-Changin,' the new Broadway musical conceived, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Twyla Tharp and told through the legendary songs of Bob Dylan.
Brescia, previously the standby for the role, will play her first performance tonight, Tuesday, October 3, the musical's tenth preview performance at The Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street). The Times They Are A-Changin' will open on Thursday, October 26, 2006.
Brescia will be the third actress to play the role of Cleo. Manuel replaced Jenn Colella, who was featured in the show when it premiered at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre.
Brescia was most recently seen on Broadway as understudy in the role of Marion Halcombe in The Woman in White. She played the role of Amneris in Aida on Broadway for the last year of its run, having toured in the role for a year before that, and was seen in the recent Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. Regional credits include Evita, The Last Five Years, A Little Night Music and Brigadoon. For five years, she toured worldwide as a "Mama" with The Mamas and The Papas with original members John Phillips and Denny Doherty. TV credits include "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." Workshops include The Three Musketeers, The Mistress Cycle and The Good War.
The Times They Are A-Changin' stars Michael Arden and Thom Sesma and features Lisa Gajda, Neil Haskell, Jason McDole, Charlie Neshyba-Hodges, Jonathan Nosan, John Selya and Ron Todorowski. Alexander Brady, John Herrera, Alaine Kashian, Keith Kühl, Marty Lawson, Joseph Putignano, Cary Tedder and Jason Wooten complete the company.
The production features scenic and costume design by Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Donald Holder and sound design by Peter Hylenski. The show has orchestrations by Michael Dansicker and Bob Dylan, with music adapted, arranged and supervised by Dansicker and musical direction by Henry Aronson.
