Tony winner Jessie Mueller who is currently lighting up the stage as Carole King in BEAUTIFUL has found her next role says the New York Times. The paper reports that the star will play the lead role in the upcoming musical of WAITRESS, based on the 2007 film of the same name. The show is expected to premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts during its 2015-16 season, followed by Broadway.
PIPPIN's producers Barry and Fran Weissler revealed to the press during the 2013 Tony Awards ceremony that they were working on a musical adaptation of the 2007 film WAITRESS, to be directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus (Pippin) with a score by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel and pop singer Sara Bareilles. The now Tony-winning revival of PIPPIN, helmed by Paulus, also made its pre-Broadway debut at A.R.T.

In Adrienne Shelly's 2007 film, "Jenna is a pregnant, unhappily married waitress in the deep south. She meets a newcomer to her town and falls into an unlikely relationship as a last attempt at happiness." The movie starred Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion.
