Tony Award-nominee Andrew Rannells will reign as King George October 27 to November 29 in Hamilton on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St). Mr. Rannells steps into the role while Tony Award-nominee Jonathan Groff - who joined the cast last spring at The Public Theater - takes a pre-negotiated one-month leave to film HBO's "Looking" movie. Groff returns to the Hamilton stage on December 1.

Andrew Rannells - currently appearing in the new film The Intern - originated the role of Elder Price on Broadway in THE BOOK OF MORMON, receiving Tony, Drama Desk and Drama League Award nominations. Rannells starred as Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH last season on Broadway. He returns this year for the 5th season on HBO's comedy series "Girls," having been nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. Previously, Mr. Rannells starred as Bryan Collins in Ryan Murphy's series "The New Normal" for NBC, and he will next be seen on season two of Steven Soderbergh's "The Knick" for Cinemax.

Inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire,
