Internationally regarded Shakespearean Sir Kenneth Branagh is making his mark on one of the Bard's most well-known roles at the Manchester International Festival in July - the Scottish Play itself, MACBETH - and it has now just been announced that the production will be filmed and broadcast as part of NT Live.
Branagh stars as MacBeth opposite Alex Kingston as Lady MacBeth in a production co-directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford.
One of Shakespeare's bloodiest and darkest tragedies, set on the vast heaths, near darkened hearths and on the various battlefields of Scotland, MACBETH depicts the downfall of a troubled man and his power-hungry queen in their epic search for power, influence and victory above all else, sacrificing their very souls to otherwordly forces in the process.
MACBETH will be broadcast on July 20 with subsequent showings planned, as well. Tickets will be on sale soon, according to the official website.
