Brady Rymer and his rootsy band celebrate the release of a new album called Press Play with an all-ages concert at City Winery in Manhattan. Rymer is a twice GRAMMY Award nominee and one of the top talents in the independent family music scene today.
The concert details are as follows:
Sunday June 12 at 11 am
City Winery, 155 Varick Street, New York, New York 10013
Tickets: $15 each
Available online: www.citywinery.com or by phone (212) 608-0555
An "Americana mash-up," Press Play borrows a little rhythm and blues from Stax Records, nods to Aretha Franklin's gospel roots and blends in the expressive harmonies of the Everly Brothers. There's a Springsteen-esque rock anthem, a Randy Newman style piano ballad and a lazy and playful New Orleans boogie. Along with the band's signature accordion and piano sound, the album's playfully creative arrangements feature a raise-the-roof horn section and down-home pedal steel guitar and fiddle.
Rymer realizes that his audience spans ages and generations. "We encourage all of our listeners to look at the world through another's eyes, surprise themselves with what they can achieve, try the unimaginable or hey! Maybe even change the world with a simple small action," he says.
Brady Rymer is a two-time GRAMMY Award nominee and one of the top talents in the independent family music scene today. Originally with the RCA Records band From Good Homes, Rymer ventured into family music with the CD Good Morning, Gus in 2000. Since then, he has released seven other CDs, including the 2008 GRAMMY-Award nominated Here Comes Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could. Rymer's rootsy, accordion-laced pop and rock music regularly wins critical acclaim and national awards. His "Jump Up" was included in the album Songs for a Healthier America, a compilation of songs that is part of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move campaign. In 2012, he released Love Me for Who I Am, for kids of all abilities. Brady's 2014 album Just Say Hi also won rave reviews and another GRAMMY nomination. Together with his Little Band that Could, Rymer creates rockin' live music for kids and families across the country. When he's not playing with his own band, Brady plays bass guitar along with the Laurie Berkner Band. He lives on the North Fork of Long Island.
