Renowned Broadway composers Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre, the upcoming The Pirate Queen) will make a rare booksigning appearance at the Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Center, Tuesday, April 3, from 6-7 PM. They will be promoting the new Applause book, The Musical World of Boubil and Schönberg, with its author, Margaret Vermette. Vermette's is the first book to take a comprehensive look at the Tony Award-winners, famous for being very private about their work.
Inspired by the true story of roguish Irish Chieftain Grace O'Malley (Stephanie J. Block,) The Pirate Queen follows the remarkable life of a woman who defied conventions in 16th century Ireland. Living as a pirate, chieftan, and mother, O'Malley fought to protect her people by confronting her greatest rival and the most powerful woman in the world, Queen Elizabeth I of England.
